My Foot Hurts

October 6, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Dear CTA bus drivers,

I understand that sometimes the drivers of Chicago can be unruly but please note that when u stop ridiculously short, standing women sometimes fly across the bus and sometimes there are 250 lb men standing next to them that fall on them. I’ll be sending you the bill for my bruised ankle.

Sad and sprained,
Lindsay

Deerfield ice-cream money thief located

June 3, 2009 10:52 AM | 1 Comment
A woman who swiped $20 from a 12-year-old girl at a Baskin-Robbins in Deerfield last month has been turned in by her husband but won’t face criminal charges, police said today.

The woman has promised to pay back the money police believe she accidentally took from the counter at the store at 671 Waukegan Road, Deerfield Deputy Police Chief Tom Keane said today–although she hadn’t paid it back by this morning.

The ice cream saga began May 15, when a 12-year-old girl placed a $20 bill on the counter when another customer, described as a blond woman in her 40s, distracted the girl by asking about her favorite ice cream flavor.

Grabbing her own ice cream and the girl’s money from the counter in the same motion, the woman exited the store with three young children in tow, police said. The woman was believed to be a regular customer.

The petty theft became an out-of-proportion news story when video surveillance tape of the incident was released, and the case was cracked when a friend of the woman’s family recognized her in the footage, Keane said.

The friend called the woman’s husband, and on Friday, the husband notified a passing patrol officer that his wife was the woman in the video, police said. The patrol officer called detectives, who went out and interviewed the woman Friday, Keane said.

On Monday, police informed the woman they expected not to charge her, and an arrangement was made with the 12-year-old’s family to have the woman repay the $20, Keane said. The payment hadn’t been made by midmorning today, Keane said.

Last week, Baskin-Robbins said the ice cream chain planned to give the girl an ice cream party and a gift certificate for an unspecified amount.

American Idol – Disco Week

April 22, 2009 · Leave a Comment

High stakes tonight after the judges save was used last week to save my favorite, Matt Giraud.

Lil kicked off Disco Week with I’m every Woman, and not surpisingly she got dogged out hardcore by the judges. Although I’m not a big Lil fan either, I really feel like the judges are being harder on her than anyone else. It’s not that she doesn’t deserve good criticism…but they keep telling her the same thing over and over again….that she’s not showing them who she is, she’s not showing her inner-goddess, etc. Really they need to stop with the bullshit and tell her she’s not that good instead of driving her up a wall with criticism that she can’t possibly improve upon.

Next was Kris Allen who totally rocked it out. He did a little Donna Summer’s She Worked Hard For the Money but he did it with a little reggeae bongo drum flair. His vocals were off the hook and I really just liked the whole performance. I still think Kris is kind of a dbag but he’s growing on me each week.

Danny Gokey was up next with September (aw, college). He did a pretty good job, but I’m becoming a little less interested in him each week. He’s got a great voice but he’s not too original in my opinion and he’s sort of awkward to watch perform. He keeps doing these really fast retro songs….and I’m starting to notice he sounds a little bit like Huey Lewis and the News. The judges were pretty nice to him and he’ll sail through for sure, but Simon totally agreed with me and said it was awkward.

Allison Iraheta sang Hot Stuff next and I’ll tell you what was NOT hot stuff: her outfit. It was pretty horrendous. I know this chick wants to be a punk rocker but I think she’s needs to get that red shit out of her hair and go for a nice chestnut. She would look so much better. But vocally, I can’t complain. I really wish I could…because she totally pisses me off…but I can’t:( I think Simon went a little overboard though when he said it was great…

Adam Lambert had his hot look on tonight (i think it’s a slow song thing) and did a pretty good job…but I think he looked a little constipated. I HATE when he gets that look on his face like a crying baby, too. The judges loved it, especially Paula. She was giving him this weird “I’m your Mom but I also want to do you look” during the song.

My boy Matt Giraud sang Stayin’ Alive and definitely put a Timberlakeish spin on it which was cool. The judges can’t say he didn’t make it his own and I think he did about as good as a singer like himself could on disco night. Randy said he did a great job and could really sing…which is what I’ve been sayin’ all along. Matt’s messed up a ton of times but what I’m saying is Matt’s a marketable guy who can cross a lot of genres and I think he would sell the most records. THERE. I SAID IT. AGAIN. Everyone loved him excepted Simon who said it was desperate. I’d be desperate too if I got saved on American Idol and had crappy odds of making it again.

Last but certainly not least was Anoop Dog singing Dim all the nights (never heard of it). It started off slow and then kicked up disco style, and when it did, Anoop started clapping on 1 and 3 instead of 2 and 4. translation: he started clapping like a retard. He eventually got the groove going but when the song was over he gave himself a look of disgust like he messed up pretty bad. I think his new mustache threw him off. But what can’t be denied is that Anoop does have great vocals. The judges were pretty big fans except Simon (again) who thought it was terrible. He’s definitely in danger of going home next week

Happily, disco week is over and I can look forward to tomorrow’s show when American will rip two, yes two, people’s dreams apart.

American Idol Results from Motown Night

March 27, 2009 · Leave a Comment

The night kicked off with the most terrible and corny lip synching I’ve never seen. Ok….this is a singing show. Does it seem weird to anyone else that they were lip synching???? It’s not like they were doing Britney Spears dancing. They did a few pivots and a few more jazz hands. That’s it. C’mon producers….what were u thinking???

Next was the Ford video with some more corniness (is that spelled right?) and Reuben Studdard….who I’m still shocked won American Idol, sang some boring song. Let’s get to the good part!!!!

Ok…Adam Lambert-safe. Next, to my SHOCK and UTTER DISBELIEF, Matt Giraud was in the bottom three. Ok. I’ll admit it. I didn’t vote. I’m a total hypocrite. I need to start doing the right thing. It’s totally a case of “I don’t need to vote because I know others will.” Well, others…..where were you on that one?????? I’m sorry Matt. I gotchu next time.

Lil- safe. Sarver-in the bottom three again. Joss Stone performs (she’s awesome) with Smokey Robinson…. which was amazing. Glad they finally had some real singing talent on the show tonight.

Anoop-safe. Danny Gokey-safe. and finally…..between Meghan and Scott….America FINALLY saw the light and put Scott aka Blinkin in the bottom three. I’d also like to say that J-Nice on my favorite radio station B96 this morning totally agreed with me and said that Scott’s face is so weird. He doesn’t smile when he sings. He just looks really weird and scary. I know, I’m a bitch, but it’s still the truth. Unfortunately, they send him back:( tear.

Next up…..Motown Medley with Stevie Wonder. Now I’ve said this before….Stevie is blind….but that guy can SING and PERFORM like a mo fo.  So i’m not just dogging Scott unfairly because of his disability. He just sucks. Stevie on the other hand, amazing. I didn’t think he was the best I’ve ever seen him tonight….but it’s Stevie. He’s just awesome.

Matt is safe THANK GOD and Michael Sarver sings for his life. There’s no way in hell the judges are saving him. Sorry Sarver, you’re cute, but peace out.

American Idol Results

March 5, 2009 · Leave a Comment

No surprise that the three chosen from this last group were Jorge Nunez, Lil Rounds, and Scott McIntyre. I’ll be honest when I say that I’m not enthralled about watching any of these people perform again, except maybe Jorge. Yeah, scratch that….he’s pretty good. But he’s got to get rid of the creepy stare.

Here were the others chosen for the wildcard round:

Von Smith – EEk. not a fan of this guy.

Jasmine Murray- hooray! She’s awesome. Can’t wait to see her again.

Ricky Braddy- I think he was actually pretty good. I don’t think he’ll make it into the top 12 because of his lack of star quality, but he’s a great singer.

Megan Corkery- NOOOOOO!!!!!!!! not a fan of the butt swinger.

Tatiana del Toro- are you freaking kidding me??????? this must be a joke season. and seriously what is that girl wearing. I kind of think they just want to see her get crushed again.

Matt Giraud- MY MAN!!!!!!! this was the best choice the judges made all night. this guy deserves to be up there.

Jessie something- really? back to being dissapointed. BORING.

Anoop Desai- MY OTHER MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOORAY ANOOP DOG!!!
